My reverend's son 39

CHAPTER 39 “THE REVEREND’S SON”  ©Opeyemi Akintunde As inspired by the LIVING WORD My father asked us to go by road and I wore the dark shades and face cap mom bought for me. One of the Church drivers was waiting for us already at Idiroko. Our first point of call was the deceased's family house. On getting there, my father went in and he was told they had not been home for days.  From there, we went straight to the church studio and did a Live video on the church YouTube Channel... "It is with great displeasure that I step aside from being the General overseer of our ministry, I have brought the name of God to disrepute as a result of my inability to raise my son right. Also my family have lied to the public. Out of love for our Son, After he committed the crime, we helped him cover up by sending him to Benin Republic and lying against the family of the deceased. We made the public believe one of the deceased's family killed him. As true Christians, We have realized our wr...

CHAPTER 38 “THE REVEREND’S SON”  ©Opeyemi Akintunde As inspired by the LIVING WORD I waited for over 3 hours before I eventually got to see the Apostle. The moment I saw him, not minding who was around, I prostrated pleading that he would forgive me for my rash words against him and his son. He kept quiet for a few minutes, before reaching out for his handkerchief.  "I forgive you Sir!" He finally replied "I heard about what happened to your son, accept my condolences" he added "He is not dead. My wife and I deceived the public and sent him to Benin Republic, but we plan on correcting that wrong!" I confessed embracing the fault too as there was no point pushing the blame on my wife alone. It was under my watch, so it is partially my fault. "Wow! It's true you should never criticize a man you have never been in his shoes" he replied implying I criticized him for his Son's venture into Mainstream music, and there was I covering up for my m...

CHAPTER 37 “THE REVEREND’S SON”  ©Opeyemi Akintunde As inspired by the LIVING WORD While praying in the last 24 hours, the Lord brought something to my remembrance and I knew I needed to ask for his forgiveness... While I was praying overnight before the call from Mrs Opeyemi,  the Lord reminded me of the scripture of the King who stretched his hand against a Man of God and his hand withered. "You stretched your hand in condemnation against a man of God whose son started singing Mainstream music. You were loud about your disappointment in the man of God. Instead of you to have raised intercessory prayers for him, instead you started pointing accusing fingers at him that he was a fake minister of God and God was punishing him through his son."  I remembered what the Lord was speaking about. "That hand you stretched at him withered and that added to your inability to raise your own child as well" the Spirit of God said to me. After the call with Ademide, I drove down ...

CHAPTER 36 “THE REVEREND’S SON”  ©Opeyemi Akintunde As inspired by the LIVING WORD I was with Olamide when Mrs Opeyemi called me on video call. At first, I was hesitant about picking up the call, but I picked up and I was shocked to see Ademide with her. "Ademide ...' I exclaimed Olamide and Mojirade heard me..Mojirade rushed to me and saw Ademide truly. Olamide wanted to see his face. I showed her his face... "I met this young man and I want to confirm if he is your son?" "Yes, he is!" I said with a strong lump in my throat "He is with me here, I was invited for a ministration here and by God's divine arrangement, we met. He is a new man. Would you like to speak with him?" She asked "Yes ma!"  Ademide collected the phone and at first all he did was sob. After he found his voice, he said.. "I am sorry for being a curse to God in your lives and I am sorry for being a curse to you. Forgive me."  I cried as a father. "Ade...

CHAPTER 35 “THE REVEREND’S SON”  ©Opeyemi Akintunde As inspired by the LIVING WORD After the female minister left the altar, I noticed Ademide stayed longer there sobbing with his eyes tightly shut. The longer time he spent there the more angry I became, I wanted him to get punished for his sin and knowing how Merciful God is, I was almost sure he would get away with the crime. One of the senior pastors called on Timothy to go minister to Ademide privately. He went to pick him up and took him to the back of the stage. I wanted to stare him in the eyes and if possibly find a nearby stone and hit his head with it. I followed Timothy without him knowing.  From where I hid at the Backstage, I saw Ademide still sobbing profusely... "I have been a curse to God and my parents, I have done terrible things, I am not proud of." As he lamented, the female preacher stepped out of the backstage resting room they had kept her. Ademide on sighting her rushed towards her sobbing like a baby....

CHAPTER 34 “THE REVEREND’S SON”  ©Opeyemi Akintunde As inspired by the LIVING WORD  “An apartment? From how he looks, Do you think he has had a decent bath in weeks. He is one of those who live on the street. This seminary outreach to this place is to preach the Prodigal Son message. Almost all the boys living here, are runaway boys. They leave home to flex as they call it, but we organize this every three months to preach the message of returning home to them. We have had testimonies of young ones who returned home and today, they are strong in the Lord.  ****** I was kneeling before the Lord broken for the first time in my Christian life. I couldn't count the number of messages I had heard in my life time or the number of times I have led prayers in church, but never have I been broken like I was that night. My Name is Ademide, Reverend Bada's son.  What made me broken that night was a message I had never heard anyone preach in my life... THE YOUNG LIFE THAT ATTRAC...

CHAPTER 33 “THE REVEREND’S SON”  ©Opeyemi Akintunde As inspired by the LIVING WORD Staying in the room for another twenty fours hours alone before the outreach gave me time to think through. I agreed that I came to Cotonou in a haste and maybe staying back in Nigeria would have been better but the thought of meeting Timothy gave me a bit of hope. " Why did I really come to Benin Republic?". I asked myself "To find and Kill Ademide?" I replied " Apart from it being a foolish move, where are you going to find him in this big country that is dominated with french speaking people." " Timothy said he lost his twin sister too and instead of seeking revenge, be converted his pain to purpose " I tried preaching to myself " Can I turn this to purpose? No! Because this was not a crime committed by unbelievers but holy people. No! They have to be taught a lesson" I concluded.  Around 4pm,  Timothy came to pick me up and gave me a customized hoodie...
