My reverend's son 8

PART 8 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE. The chant-like noise kept getting louder, and we could pick out few words like... " Oro nla leda... Reverend pikin don kill Henry Oro nla leda"  We picked the words in bits and pieces till it made sense. By this time, everyone had converged in the Living room. " Which Reverend's son killed someone?" My mother asked looking at my Father .. " Muyiwa, you have another son who is a killer and you didn't tell me!" My mother turned to my father in tears. Her heart didn't think for a second it could be Ademide. " What are you talking about? Which other son do I have apart from Ademide?" My father shouted back at her... " Oh! Moromade is it Usman they are referring to?" My mother turned to me walking past Ademide that stood by her shaking... " Mum!" I screamed back at her, but that did not deter my mom from moving to Usman ... " Te...

PART 7 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE. The Estate Occupants knew something evil had come into their serene space, or what else would you call over 100 angry looking youths with machetes. Everyone ran into their homes locking their doors... People parked their cars and ran into different hiding spots. " Where deir house dey?" ( Where is their house?)  My brother asked pushing me to the front. I pointed to the Close that housed their home and off the boys went...  They left me behind and in that moment I knew I had to do something to save the day. With the way the boys were acting, I could tell that even my Reverend's life would be in danger. " Gbadebo!" The name my brother respected in this world dropped in my heart.... Gbadebo was the only friend of my brother that made sense. Gbadero was my brother's childhood friend who unlike my brother pursued their dream of becoming lawyers. He was a practicing lawyer. I ...

PART 6 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE. " You no hear me? I say no be your Reverend pikin be this?" ( Are you deaf? I am asking, Is this not your Reverend's son?) My brother Peter screamed loudly in my ears "Yes! Yes! Yes"  I replied in fear. My brother Peter was not someone you kept waiting whenever he asked you a question.  You needed to supply the answer immediately especially whenever he was angry. "Tell me their house address fast"  He asked without expecting a refusal. I knew my Reverend's house address but knowing my brother, going there would be catastrophic in nature. He was going to destroy everything. At this point, you should expect me to also be angry, possibly mad and want to kill Ademide but I was confused. I loved my twin brother no doubt but I also had a soft spot for Ademide. I had developed the love for him in my heart for so long to just hate him all of a sudden. " You dey Mad...

My reverend's son 5

PART 5 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE. There was no car to move my brother to the nearest hospital, though in the real sense I could see that there was no life in him. I had the faith that if he got to the hospital, the doctors would do their magic or miracle of bringing him back to life, but no one was willing to help carry an obviously dead man on the first day of the year. I couldn't believe I was spending the early hours of my new year in  a club with the dead body of my twin in my hands. I wanted to wake up from the scary dream.  " Rayo, please pinch me.  I want to wake up from this impossible dream" I said to Rayo... " I wish it's a dream" Rayo said as the tears kept flowing... " I have found a taxi for you" The Manager of the club said " Let's help you lift him into the car. He will take you to the nearest hospital " He added. I should have suspected they were disposing us. When ...

My reverend's son 4

PART 4 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE. I found myself walking away from my duty post and dialing Rayo's number. She picked up in a rush... " Hello Rayo! What kind of message is this on the first of January, What nonsense prank are you and my brother up to..." These and more were the words I wanted to spill out on Rayo, but her wailing and crying the moment she picked up, told me this was no prank. I could hear voices of young people shouting in the background... " Janet...Come...Henry is dying" Rayo said  " What happened?" I asked shaking " Your Pastor's son ...stabbed him?" " Which Pastor's son? Are you talking about Ademide?"  I asked still not getting the connection. My Twin brother; Henry was not a member of my church, infact he was not born again. While I spent my crossover in church , he spent his at a club. Ademide, though not in church was not someone who will spend cr...

PART 3 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE. "Ademide! Ademide!" I called for the second time. I rushed towards him yanking the duvet off his body, expecting to feel heat oozing out of his body. On the contrary , his body temperature was very normal. I touched his neck expecting hotness but instead it still felt normal... "He..yyyy Big Sis, Hello BIL( Brother in-law)" Ademide said stuttering like someone who was shivering.  " Ade, if I slap you, you will develop real fever... Get up fast! Who are you planning to deceive with this? Maybe Mum?" I said and the words had barely left my lips when my mother burst into the room... " Ademi, Oko Mii"  My mother hailed her beloved and only son from the stairs and her world fell apart when she saw Ademide still curled up like a baby she had turned him into... " What's wrong with my son?" My mother asked " Fe..ve..rrrr" Ademide said " No...

My reverend's son 2

PART 2 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE. " The Queen herself, the  Most Beautiful, the one who makes the world know that I am very blessed. Olamide Aya Muyiwa Bada" My Father hailed my mother as she took her usual presidential catwalk down the Stairs of my parent's mansion... " Aya ( Wife of )  Reverend Muyiwa Bada, point of correction" My mother answered placing the emphasis on the title 'Reverend'  I couldn't help but blush at the Love between my parents, though growing up, I was confused about the concept of love watching my parents. My Mother can be referred to as the Tiger of the Tribe of Bada. You try nonsense, You see nonsense. You give her small trouble you see plenty trouble. My father on the other hand can be called the Lamb of the Tribe of Bada. Therefore, Growing up, I was confused with my Father's sermon of Submission. He would preach one thing in church and yet I was seeing something el...

My reverend's son

CHAPTER 1 "MY REVEREND'S SON" ©️ Opeyemi Akintunde Inspired by the HOLY ONE It was Crossover Service into the new year and truth be told, my excitement about attending the service was not because we were moving into the new year. It was simply because, as an usher I had been posted to the most desired service unit spot. Where? You ask? Take a Guess?  Let me help you with a few clues... It is the spot the sanctuary keepers prat to clean and when they get the opportunity , they clean till their hands are bleeding. It is the spot, members rush to after service to tap Grace. It is the Spot, protocols desire to be posted to. It is the Spot Choristers wants to be seen from .. Let's stop the guesses, let me feed you the answer... It is the most honourable place after the altar... Yes! The front row where the Reverend and his family get to sit every Service day!. Therefore, standing by the front row as an usher was a dream come true. That day had been divinely orchestrated by...

Beautiful betrayal Finale

📝: BEAUTIFUL BETRAYAL . . . CHAPTER TEN (final). . . . I was now back to the living room to collect fresh air, seriously I had forgotten how long I had stayed up in the restroom doing nothing other than reminicing and crying. I just couldn’t wait for him to come back and face me. After all these years? 40 years and still counting, all my life I had been a loyal and a devoted lover to him regardless of the condition we found ourselves. My step sister was still outside alone with our new wife, Nneka, because those women who were with us earlier had left to chuch for their christian mother meeting. Mercy couldn’t go because she was at that time not to well to be moving up and down. From a distance, they could see Emeka m back from the farm with his bag hanging over his neck and a cutlass in his hand. Seems as if Emeka had caught a very huge grasscutter from the bush. Mercy was fast as alseep when Emeka and his pregnant supposed wife went inside to this compound. Abd as being very unfortu...

Beautiful Betrayal 9

📝: BEAUTIFUL BETRAYAL . . . CHAPTER NINE . . . “What have we done?” Emeka asked that diviner as he pointed at the stool for us to sit. The diviner looked at both of us and then he nodded his head in pity, I was sure the head was for me but I don’t know what actually he was being pitiful for. Even if I knew I don’t think I am ready for anything shocking other than the one I had already received. The “sins of my past” as some called it in the comments was opened right before me, I knew I didn’t try by using his hard earned money because of the feeling of affection he had for me and all that. Maybe the mistake I made was after telling him off, I still went with open arms and full conscience to request for money again. Just tell me? Who does what I did to him? I’ve wrong him but how could I find him, someone that had already left the village the next week after I turned him down for the second time. I remembered myself going to his house the next day after our supposed relationship crashe...

Beautiful betrayal 8

📝: BEAUTIFUL BETRAYAL . . . CHAPTER EIGHT . . . The next day, Emeka boarded a bike and drove to Queen’s house. It wasn’t that far from where we lived. Just some miles away. I had hope that was going to turn out well for him but since I wasn’t God I had no other choice then to have hope and believe for the betterment of things. As of then, my step sister hooked up one of her friends with her mother’s brother. He wasn’t that old but shouldn’t be less than 34 to 36 years of age. So after they had successfully done their extravagant wedding, three months into the wedding, Mary and her husband, Collins began having problems in their wedding. The issue escalated to the point that Mary had to return back home from the city that they had traveled to. The cause of their problem wasn’t something that could be settled but the both of them were feeling just too pompous and big headed to apologize to another. I tried talking sense into her to go and apologize to her husband even though she was rig...

Beautiful betrayal 7

📝: BEAUTIFUL BETRAYAL . . . CHAPTER SEVEN . . . We stopped with what we were doing and looked at the girls who where panting like màd dogs. They were seriously sweating from head to toe, hadn’t it been in the evening, one would say that they just had their bath and were coming out of the bathroom. The king regained his composure and then asked them to speak up since they came rushing in, the girls had finally caught their breath and then they decided to talk. The girls suddenly began having a small fizzle among themselves and that only slightly got the chief and his cabinet annoyed, as everyone there. Most especially me, I was already getting worned out as a result of the puñishmént I was being subjected to. The village Chief got angry and then asked them to step back and return to their they were coming from. Lot of people had already straightened their hands trying to launch their missilés on them but the girls weren’t going back at all because they had finally agreed to talk. The f...

Beautiful betrayal 6

📝: BEAUTIFUL BETRAYAL . . . CHAPTER SIX . . . I was awestruck and used my hands to wipe my face maybe it could be that I was imagining or something of that nature, but I thought he told me he had a job offer from one woman whom he needed to attend to urgently. Honestly the urge to stop him came but I couldn’t just barge into their midst like that. So I bowed my head and went to church, maybe I could find solace there when praying to God. “I’m seeing another woman.” Emeka confessed while he was watching a movie in my room. “Oh! Wow! That’s nice. I’m happy for you dear.” I answered pretending to be happy even until the point of wearing on a fake smile and even bringing bottle of wine I had in my fridge for us to celebrate. Emeka was not fully convinced that I had agreed and that all was well but he had no other choice than to play along with me since I was showing to be happy about everything. I poured the wine into the two cups of glass I brought and then we made a toast to the newly f...
