My reverend's son 3

PART 3

"Ademide! Ademide!" I called for the second time. I rushed towards him yanking the duvet off his body, expecting to feel heat oozing out of his body. On the contrary , his body temperature was very normal. I touched his neck expecting hotness but instead it still felt normal...

"He..yyyy Big Sis, Hello BIL( Brother in-law)" Ademide said stuttering like someone who was shivering.

" Ade, if I slap you, you will develop real fever... Get up fast! Who are you planning to deceive with this? Maybe Mum?" I said and the words had barely left my lips when my mother burst into the room...

" Ademi, Oko Mii"  My mother hailed her beloved and only son from the stairs and her world fell apart when she saw Ademide still curled up like a baby she had turned him into...

" What's wrong with my son?" My mother asked

" Fe..ve..rrrr" Ademide said

" Nothing is wrong with your son Mummy, he wants to stay back, he wants to watch the crossover online." I said

My mother touched his neck and to my (not-so shocked) shock, she said ..

" Moro, this boy is having slight temperature. He better stay at home and avoid the stress of the crossover service"

" Mum! But you know Ademide is pretending right?"  I replied

" My son is not pretending" My mum shouted back at me...

" What is happening here?" My Father's voice made me realize we were no longer alone. I turned back and saw my father and my other siblings.

" Ademide is under the weather, so he won't be attending Crossover with us" My mother had said defensively

" That's impossible, he is coming with us, he will get his healing during the service" My father said with an authoritative voice which soon became history because my mother clapped back instantly...

" How many testimonies of  healings have we heard in church recently, Please don't use my son for experiment. Let him rest it out tonight. If he doesn't attend tonight's service, the world won't end."

My Father felt embarrassed by my mother's insult. He hissed and walked out. That was the cue for the rest of us to follow him...

" I trust you not to leave me behind Muyiwa" My mother threatened.

In obedience to my mother's threat,My father waited for her to join us in my Father's luxury Family mini bus.

The ride to Church was very quiet.

*******
As the Bada Dynasty sat in their usual spot, everything within me wanted to throw dignity away and ask one of the girls why Ademide wasn't in Church, however one of Adepeju's friend saved me the embarrassment...

" Where is Ademide?" She mouthed

" Under the weather"  She replied

" What demonic satanically orchestrated weather is that?" I literally wanted to Scream my guts out...

" God , this is highly unfair. Why make the Devil mess me up like this" I said and you would not believe it, I was tearing up.

The next two hours was the worst time of my life.
It became terrible when it was exactly 12 midnight and we shouted happy new year. We had a tradition of hugging ourselves. I had fantasized about hugging Ademide . He was going to be the first person I would hug in the year and based on romantic movies I had seen, I believed that the first person I would hug would be the person I would spend the rest of my year with...

Unfortunately, the first person to hug me was my co-usher; Brother Theophilus of all people...

My Phone started ringing and on checking on my screen, it was Rayo, my brother's girlfriend who I absolutely detest.

" Why is she calling me ? To wish me happy New year? No way!" I was getting mad by the second, how come it was the wrong people that were calling me and hugging me.

I ended the call and went on hugging more people, though the person I really wanted to hug was not anywhere near...

A text message dropped and I checked to see who was wishing me a happy new year ...

Instead of a Happy New Year greeting, I saw a Sorrowful New year News ...

" Please pick up, your brother has been stabbed by your Pastor's son, Ademide and he has escaped. Janet, Your brother is  bleeding to death .Come to River Club at Ajo Island ..." Rayo had texted

The entire church went silent in that moment...

"What did I just read?"
