My reverend's son 5
PART 5

There was no car to move my brother to the nearest hospital, though in the real sense I could see that there was no life in him. I had the faith that if he got to the hospital, the doctors would do their magic or miracle of bringing him back to life, but no one was willing to help carry an obviously dead man on the first day of the year.
I couldn't believe I was spending the early hours of my new year in a club with the dead body of my twin in my hands. I wanted to wake up from the scary dream.
" Rayo, please pinch me. I want to wake up from this impossible dream" I said to Rayo...
" I wish it's a dream" Rayo said as the tears kept flowing...
" I have found a taxi for you" The Manager of the club said " Let's help you lift him into the car. He will take you to the nearest hospital " He added.
I should have suspected they were disposing us. When we got to the hospital , we were denied entrance, because Henry was declared 'Dead on Arrival'.
We were advised to take him to the mortuary to keep his body till we were ready for his funeral.

Ademide walked into Church full of smiles. I was surprised to see him. He walked to the front and took his seat.
We all had different questioning looks on our faces like..
" Seriously?" Adepeju's look of irritation
" Are you now okay?" My mother's look
" You really came?" My Father's look
" This guy just likes attention. Like did you just get the attention you were looking for?" Mojirade's look
For me, I shook my head and smiled at his childishness. I concluded he had a change of heart.
By 4am, the Crossover Service had ended and by 5am we were home. As we journeyed back home , I noticed a number kept calling him but he kept ending the call. I thought it was one of his girlfriends. Though my brother was a Reverend's Kid, I knew he had some silent moves which I blamed on youthful exuberance. Like I knew there was a little smell of alcohol from his body, which if I asked him, he would blame it on his strong cologne that has an alcohol base.
The Usual Routine after we got back from Crossover was for everyone to go to bed, wake up around 10am and reconvene for our first breakfast of the year after freshening up. The Ladies would have woken up by 9am to get the breakfast ready, because my parents' chef and maids always traveled for the end of the year holiday to their hometown.

We deposited my twin brother's body at the mortuary. At that point, I had called Ademide's number like 100 times without any response; I had secretly stored his number on my phone for months. I wanted him to tell me he was not my brother's killer. I wanted him to tell me he was out of the country and that's why he didn't attend the crossover service. I wanted him to proof my brother's girlfriend wrong. I wanted it to be a case of mistaken identity.
My elder brother and my mum had met us at the mortuary and they were bleeding tears.
I had warned Rayo not to utter any statement about my Reverend's son to my family. I told her I wanted to know the truth myself. She looked at me like I was delusional but I told her I had my reasons.
What I told my family was that Rayo said a fight broke out and my brother was mistakenly stabbed, no one could be pointed out as the direct killer.
Rayo couldn't understand why I was doing what I was doing, coupled with the fact that she noticed I was trying to call Ademide and he was not picking...
" I wonder why you are trying to cover up your Reverend's son ? Are you not going to make him pay for killing your brother or is there something you are not telling me?" She crept on me from behind.
Was I trying to cover up for Ademide? I couldn't say for a fact. Well, Even if I wanted it quiet for a while, Henry's Spirit would not keep quiet...
By 9:45am, we were back at our house. Rayo was with us. Our house was full of wailing; my mother was wailing like a baby, people instead of greeting us 'Happy New Year' were greeting us "Accept our condolences".
Brume, one of my elder brother's friend ran into our house like an unannounced flood...
" Peter, we don see the pesin wey kill Henry" ( Peter, we have seen Henry's killer) He said showing my brother a video on his phone. I rushed towards the phone hoping Rayo would be wrong...
" Reverend Bada's son is also in River Club on the 31st of December, Shouldn't he be in Church?" The person behind the camera was jesting. Ademide was seated with two other boys who I had never seen before.
" E be like say, Pastor pikin wan rock another pesin babe" ( It seems the Pastor's son is interested in another person's babe) The person continued his commentary revealing Ademide walking up to Rayo and Henry. The person recording must have been using a very expensive phone, because the video was clean and clear. Though there was background music playing, the audio was slightly clear. It was possible to pick out what they were saying. I knew Ademide's voice anywhere anyday. It was clearly Ademide.
I watched with hot tears escaping from my eyes as everything Rayo said played out to the letter.
I watched in heart-wrenching pain how Ademide stabbed my brother. The video ended as Ademide was pulled away from the scene by his friends and the person behind the camera shouting...
" Babe, let's get out of here, I don't want to be involved in police investigation in this new year."
I sat back on one of the chairs as my world collapsed.
" No be your Reverend pikin be this?" ( Is this not your Reverend's Son?) My brother roared and I knew War was here....
