My reverend's son

CHAPTER 1
"MY REVEREND'S SON"

It was Crossover Service into the new year and truth be told, my excitement about attending the service was not because we were moving into the new year. It was simply because, as an usher I had been posted to the most desired service unit spot.

Where? You ask?
Take a Guess?
Let me help you with a few clues...

It is the spot the sanctuary keepers prat to clean and when they get the opportunity , they clean till their hands are bleeding.
It is the spot, members rush to after service to tap Grace.
It is the Spot, protocols desire to be posted to.
It is the Spot Choristers wants to be seen from ..
Let's stop the guesses, let me feed you the answer...

It is the most honourable place after the altar...

Yes! The front row where the Reverend and his family get to sit every Service day!.

Therefore, standing by the front row as an usher was a dream come true. That day had been divinely orchestrated by God, there was nothing anyone was going to say contrary to that.

This was the opportunity my life and destiny had been waiting for.

Ademide was going to notice me and the Spirit of God in him would acknowledge the fact that I was to be his future wife and the future Mummy G.O.

The Badas were not yet around. That was typical. As the first family of the Great assembly, they would always walk in half way praise-worship like royalty that they were anointed to be.

As an Usher, I couldn't dance shamelessly with reckless abandonment like I would have loved to do. My heart wanted to jump for Joy for the destiny orchestration of the crossover service. I could already perceive how the new year was going to be like for Ademide and I. I was fantasizing about how he was going to ask me for my phone number and throughout the next year, we would be the best of friends. I wasn't planning to rush into dating and all. Friendship was the short term goal , Friendship was enough for starters...

Ademide! Handsome, sleek, pink lips from Heaven, Fresh was an understatement in describing him. Composed was the right word in describing him. His shirt was never rumpled, his baritone voice was music to my ears, his wisdom whenever he held the microphone was enough to make a girl lose her home training drooling at his wisdom. His demeanor whenever he had to take a Bible reading was like a 60 year old man who owned a conglomerate.

You can therefore imagine how my 20 year old mind didn't mind that I was falling for my 19 year old Reverend's son...

Don't! Don't even Judge me! So? What if he's younger than me by one year! So? Besides, that's not what this story is based on...

Can I continue with my story please? *Smiles*

" Yes, I know you are enjoying this right?"

 Back to my story.

Praise and Worship was gradually winding up and  the Badas were nowhere in sight!

I was beginning to wonder if I was cursed. Why was it the day I got posted to the Front, that things were not going as they used to...

" Make way" I heard the familiar voice of Reverend Bada's long serving CSO.

There was nowhere you found the Reverend that you would not see CSO ( Chief Security Officer). It was no longer a question and wonder in the heart of church members the authenticity of his marriage. He was hardly at home with his wife.

My heart lifted at the sound of his Voice. His voice meant the Badas were around especially my Ademide.

However, my heart refused to agree with my eyes, because my eyes decided to tell me Ademide Bada was not around.

My eyes saw Moromade; the first child and first daughter of the Bada Righteous Dynasty.  Her beautiful smile and gait was something I prayed and wished for. She walked in with her husband, the lucky Usman Dauda. He had come into the church eight years earlier as a converted Muslim. He grew in the Lord , he dedicated himself to service and God decided to reward him with the King's daughter. I took him as my  faraway mentor . Someday, I was going to be the wife of the only son  and the heir apparent to the BADA Dynasty ..

I keep calling my Pastor's family a DYNASTY, You are surprised right ? But , that's exactly what it is. By saying anything lesser than this, is not been humble but instead a ridicule to My Reverend.

Adepeju Bada is the second daughter of my Reverend. She was engaged to be married to a man she met in the UK, not much is known about him. She also strolled in.

Mojirade , the third daughter was the artistic child. She is extremely selfish with her spoken words, but she was a god on her canvas. Her paintings and drawings were almost tangible.

The Last child of the family who was meant to be handsomely walking in, was nowhere in sight. I stretched my neck searching my lost prince; it became embarrassing because my ushering partner had to ask...

" Are you expecting someone?"

" No!" I said calmly, but I really wanted to Scream...

" Where is Ademide? Where is My Reverend's son?"
