After Harmony’s departure, Tomike had remained seated in the restaurant, her body shook as she struggled to contain her emotions. But the pain was too much to hold in. She stumbled to her feet, blindly making her way to her car, her vision blurred by tears. She entered the vehicle. She felt as though her very soul had been torn apart, piece by piece.
As she pulled out of the parking lot, still crying profusely, a second car followed her from a distance. Inside, Evelyn quietly fastened her seatbelt and started her engine, trailing after Tomike’s car out of the restaurant compound, watching over her in silence.
Meanwhile, back in Ade’s bedroom, he paced around in the room, his heart heavy and his eyes filled with unshed tears. He laid on the bed pouring out his soul in prayer for his wife.
“Dear Lord, creator of all mankind,” he whispered, his voice breaking, “You hold the heart of kings in Your hands, and however You want, like a river of water, You turn it.” His eyes closed tightly, his voice growing more emotional, more intense. “I bring Tomike to You tonight, Lord. Heal her heart. Let Your balm from Gilead flow through her body, her soul, her spirit. Let her find peace like never before, in the name of Jesus…”
Harmony had asked him for permission to take Tomike out on an 'Apology Date'. He had explained their past to him, and he had agreed. He knew Tomike needed closure, if they were to start happier chapters. He was married to a woman who was married to her past. It was therefore paramount that she divorced her past for them to be together in their present.

As Ade prayed Far away, Tomike’s heart felt a faint tug, though she didn’t understand why.
She wiped her face repeatedly, her hands trembling as she sniffled, her mind replaying Harmony’s words over and over. She could barely see the road as she drove. Eventually, she parked outside a quiet, dimly lit church. Slowly, she made her way inside, the silence of the sanctuary offering a strange comfort amidst her turmoil.
Walking down the aisle, she reached the front of the church, her heart was so heavy it pushed her to the ground, her gaze fixed on the altar. Her voice trembled as she spoke aloud, her words filled with pain.
“God, are You really, really up there?” she wailed, her tone raw. “I mean… look at me. Just look at me. What did I ever do to deserve all of this?”
Her voice cracked, and she paused, tears filling her eyes again. “Harmony says he cannot love me back, yet… my heart...my heart cannot stop wanting him. My heart cannot stop wanting this man.” She closed her eyes, the pain was too much. “I don’t even have children of my own,” she cried
Her shoulders shook as she broke down completely, her sobs echoing softly in the quiet church. She was so lost in her grief that she didn’t notice Evelyn enter and take a seat quietly behind her, watching her with compassion.
After a moment, Evelyn spoke, her voice gentle, filled with warmth. “Tomike.”
Tomike turned, her face tear-streaked, and her expression hardened as she recognized Evelyn. She quickly turned back, her voice weary and defensive. “What is it? Are you here to insult me, to fight me, or to accuse me of snatching your husband?”
Evelyn chuckled softly, her tone calm and unthreatening. “Tomike, I’m a very secure woman. The fear of someone snatching my husband is not a thought I entertain.”
Tomike gave a sad, bitter smile, her face twisted with pain. “Good for you,” she muttered. “So, what are you doing here?”
Evelyn moved closer, her eyes soft and understanding. “Tomike, I’m here as a woman, just like you. I completely understand what you’re going through. I know exactly how you feel, and I came as a sister.”
Tomike shook her head in the negative, her voice filled with anger and irritation. “I don’t want to be your sister.”
Evelyn’s gaze didn’t waver. “But you’re not my enemy. Look, I know what it feels like to be abandoned, to feel completely alone...especially when you love deeply. My father left me when I was just three years old. I… I grew up feeling empty, always blaming myself, always feeling like I wasn’t good enough, like I wasn’t worthy of love.”
Tomike’s expression softened slightly, her curiosity overcoming her resentment as Evelyn continued.
Evelyn moved forward, gently sitting beside her. “I may not look like it now,” she said with a slight smile, “but I was once damaged. I hated men. I thought that shutting off my heart was a way out. But the more I pushed people away, the emptier I felt. All through my secondary school, my university years, I was broken and shattered.”
Tomike’s tears began to flow again....
