EPISODE 5

Fear tightened its grip on the girls as they met the seniors' intense gaze. Those once amused eyes now bore angèr, shárp as daggers.

The school bell interrupted the standoff, jolting the trio back to reality. 

They hurriedly dispersed, heading to their respective classrooms. The mere act of locking eyes with the seniors seemed capable of triggering their wráth.

Aliya settled into her seat near the window, her gaze drifted to the prefects outside.

 They were busy disciplining a junior student, the rhythmic strokes of the cane punctuating the math teacher's lecture on simultaneous equations.

The math teacher, Mr. Eugene, saw Aliya wasn't paying attention and asked her to come up and solve a math problem.

 Aliya who wasn't good in math, got it all wrong, and Mr. Eugene flogged  her for not paying attention.

The maths teacher, had a reputation that preceded him. 

His subject matter was challenging enough, but his aggressive demeanor made him the most dreaded figure at Pelican Girls High School.

The students harbored a collective resentment toward Mr. Eugene. 

Aliya was angry throughout his lesson, and wished she could stand up to him.

"We know Mr Eugene is a mean person, but don't take it to the heart babe," dorcas comforted her.

 "Next time just stare at the whiteboard, even if it makes no sense. It's the only way to avoid his wrath, tricking him into thinking you're paying attention.

Sammy chimed in, staring at the evident anger on Aliya's countenance

"I have great håtred for him too, his teaching is like watching a Chinese movie without subtitles, thus forcing my eyes to close out of frustrati0n for maths," Sammy continued.

As the three friends continued their discussion in their usual spot, the three seniors beckoned them over.

 Fear clenched their hearts once more. Aliya hesitated, but her friends insisted they had already been overheard.

"Come with us now," one of the prefects said, along with the other seniors.

Aliya didn't want to go, but her friends convinced her to avoid more trouble, especially since the seniors had overheard their conversation.

Aliya and her friends trailed behind them obediently, as they made their way to oldest and abandoned library of pelican girls high school, 

Which had some bad electric bulbs, with books tore into pieces,  but then even though Aliya and her friends were scared, they  kept walking behind them.

After a while, they were right at the front of the library, One of the girls pushed open the door, she went in and then the other went in.

Aliya, dorcas and Sammy decided to stay outside but they were instructed  to enter. 

 Dorcas was beginning to drop some amount of tears from her eyes,

Aliya held her hand along with Sammy,

one of the prefects shouted at the top of her voice

"Come inside c0ckr0aches!".

With fear, they all hurriedly themselves in. 

They were told to sit down. and the girls sluggishly sat down without separating their hands.

"It came to our notice  that you three were the ones spying while most of your mates were fast asleep,

The social prefect  'charity' continued,

"It would be best if you confess what really happened the night before, and what you cockr0aches have seen,

"I hope am making Sense? am a lady of few words".

She asked again while looking at the frightened girls.

"We really didn't see anything" dorcas said

"We know you are lying but who did you tell about what you saw?" The library prefect 'mirabel' asked

"Seriously we don't know what you guys are saying," aliya finally gathered her wits.

"You girls can leave," 

One of the prefects said, as the girls sprang to their feet, with great speed the girls left the old library and ran to their hostel leaving the prefects behind, 

The prefects only glared at the girls angrily, as they plotted a scheme against them.
