My reverend's son 40&41
CHAPTER 40 & 41

It seemed like the Judge overheard my conversation with my brother because he literally said the same thing in a legal way. He applauded the Reverend for making amends like he preached and said because of that he would give them both reduced sentences.
He stated that based on the Legal System he was guilty of obstructing and preventing justice and therefore was liable to imprisonment for seven years, but based on his goodwill in the society and leading by example, he would only serve half of that time.
As for Ademide, for the offence of murder, he was liable to imprisonment for life but just like his father got Mercy, he was been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
I think that was fair enough right?
*****
Usman and I visited my mother after we watched the live broadcast. While watching the live broadcast, he wept...
"These are the Godly parents that raised me in church, not the monsters satan wanted them to become because of Ademide"
When we got to my mother's hospital, I knelt beside her apologizing for not coming to her on time, very unlike my mom, she smiled...
"I understand!"
My husband prostrated and asked for her forgiveness...
"Usman, I have forgiven you but no matter what wrong I did in three weeks, it should not make you forget my good deed of over 8 years to you. "
"I am Sorry Mom." he acknowledge his error.
"It's Okay, take care of the church now!"
*****
Mojirade called her female lover and ended the relationship based on what I had done.
"Dad, there is always room for getting it right now matter how hard. I have learnt from you about doing what is right no matter how hard, Life is about pleasing God"
*****
I knew 35 years was no small amount of years , but I would rather be in prison for 35 years than be in everlasting prison in hell.
I met Janet or rather Janet came visiting.
*****
I went to visit Ademide in Prison.

CHAPTER 41
“THE REVEREND’S SON”

I sat waiting for Ademide. I wiped my tears a few times while I awaited his arrival. I didn't know how I was going to feel when he eventually sits opposite me.
Eventually he was brought out to meet me and as he walked towards me. I saw my mistake all along.
Walking towards me was not handsome Ademide in sleek shoes, this was the real Ademide all the while and as a church member I failed him.
It wasn't just his parents that failed him, we the church members failed him, while his father was busy praying for the children of others, no one was praying for his own children.
Instead of drooling over Ademide back then, it would have made more sense if I had been interceding for him and his family.
"Hello! You are from Mrs Opeyemi, we met at Cotonou Right? At the backstage" he immediately recognized me. His smile was so beautiful.
"No, I have known you earlier than that."
"Oh really? Since when?"
"I am an usher at the Great Assembly” I said
"You attend our church?" he couldn’t hide his surprise “Meaning you recognized me at the outreach and you didn’t expose or say anything. Was that why you were crying? You were shocked at seeing me alive?” he was asking so many questions.
I decided to quickly get to it, since I didn’t have all the time in the world.
"Yes I was sobbing because I realized you were alive after you sent my brother to his early grave. I am the twin Sister to the Deceased"… I said
He looked mortified but it seemed he remembered something...
“He…Your brother said it. He called me ‘My Sister's Reverend's son’. I am so sorry for the pain caused. That day I was high on drugs, My friends had drugged me up. I actually had been dared by my friends that I could not go to a club on the 31st of December. They taunted me with the name “Reverend’s son”. A name I should have embraced with so much pride and joy for the privilege given to me by God, but they made me see myself as the outcast and unfortunate youth. Then your brother taunting me with the same Reverend’s son set me off. I am sorry.” he said with his head bowed in shame, and I shook my head in pity because those friends of him must have left the country leaving him to face this alone.
“I went to your house immediately I got back from Cotonou with my dad to tender our Apology but we met your absence. " he said showing how sorry he was.
"It's Ok, I just came here to say hi and to let you know we forgive you and to ask for your permission to make a story out of this."
" Oh Wow! That would be great! I am all in."

Last words of our contributors....
I have learnt a hard lesson through this ... There is a popular scripture about two prostitutes who gave birth and one of the prostitutes slept on her baby while nursing the child, that's what I have learnt...WHEN YOU OVER PAMPER YOUR OFFSPRING, YOU WILL END UP KILLING THEM. Reverend Mrs Olamide Bada

I am happy I got to serve a little jail term with my son, maybe if parents get to serve Jail terms with their children, they would be more intentional in their parenting. I hope fathers would read this and learn. Let Fathers know they are responsible for their wives and children. I saw this great trait in my Son-in-law. He was in charge of his family. He held his feet down concerning his wife, who is my daughter. That’s why I trusted him with taking over when I stepped down. Everything rises and falls on leadership and for God to have made a man the head of the Family, He expects you not to fail him. You can be firm in love. Reverend Muyiwa Bada

I have learnt through my mother's failure how not to raise children. When you love your children, you must learn to discipline them. Moromade Usman Dauda
