Kamal told the men who were in charge of beating Rogers to release himand put him in a room. The villagers all looked surprised. Most of them were yearning to feast on his flesh…
“And why is that?” Gino asked loudly. “If we are not going to feast on him,let‟s kill him or do you want to make him one of us?”Ginosaid
The villagers fastened their eyes on Kamal expecting a reply. Kamal knew it was best to keep quiet and walk into his room with shoulders high.
The moment he stepped in, his apprehensiveness came to the forefront forAbenato see.
“Don‟tworry,we will work this out.”Abena encouraged“They will eat us alive”Kamal said
“They can‟t, the people love me and I will use that to our advantage.”
“Father,Mother,Goodmorning”Sombra;Kamal‟s first daughter came out of the their room to greet her parents. She and her siblings had been fast asleep all throughout the night. They didn‟t suspect anything out of theordinarily as screaming victims was not new to them. They grew up to see humans hunted and killed for them to eat.

Kamal looked up surprised at his daughter‟s accurate guess.Unknown to him, Abena fed her daughters with stories of the outside world. She fed them with stories of the places she remembered as a child.
“Baba, me I wan gooutsideworldtoo,Belewa,Majore,Violet,Sereba,Kunle, Kewefe wan go too” Sombra said mentioning her sisters and friends.Obviously, the hope stories Abena fed her daughters with, had travelled toother children. Kamal and Abena exchanged looks. They had their first setofconverts.
