Episode 2

The footsteps of father sounded like a battalion soldiers going for a world
war as he stormed out of the house. Mother was left alone, crying
profusely. She cursed herself for being so unfortunate. She wished life
would just smile at her and her family even if it was just once. She had
never enjoyed her marriage and had tolerated all the hardship for the sake
of her children. Money has never been their friend and they had been
plunging into one debt after the other. Though her husband had been
supportive in his own little way but the only property they always acquired
was poverty. She never wanted to get pregnant and had been so careful which
was why she chose contraceptive pills as a safety method.

She tried to press and kick her belly maybe with that, I could just pop out
of her protruded tummy. I hid myself in a corner where I would not be
affected with her drama. She stood up and walked from one corner of their
one-room apartment to the other, thinking hard on what next to do.

"Madam, you can't use this abortion pills more than two times. You might
damage your womb or lose your life in the process" I think you will need to
visit the hospital for proper abortion process" The pharmacist cautioned
her. Mother had reluctantly left the pharmacy. I was happy at the
pharmacy’s statement. I wished mother could stop at that and not pressed
further to go to the hospital. I wish she could foresee the future. Mother
never thought I could become a source of joy to her and the household at
large.

People will begin to ask questions, I sold all the jewelry Femi bought for me since we got married.
