I picked up my boss and called my boss back, he picked at the second ring.
SAM
Good evening sir?
BOSS
Where have you been sam? I called like a thousand times.
SAM
I’m sorry I missed your calls sir, I was busy outside.
BOSS
(he sign) it’s alright, how have you been?
SAM
Great sir, God has been so good to me. How are you sir and everyone in the office?
BOSS
We are all fine, we all miss your babyish character here in the office.
I chuckle, why do people keep saying that? Babyish? For Chris sake I’m a full grown woman.
SAM
I miss you guys too. So what’s up? I know your calling isn’t because you miss me.
He chuckle too.
BOSS
I want you to return back home, during the weekend because by Monday you will be traveling to Canada for a business deal.
My eyes pop open, return home? But I told him I was going away for a month it’s barely a week and he want me back?
SAM
That’s not fair sir, we agreed I was gonna stay away for a month, it’s not even a week yet.
BOSS
I know sam, but you know only you can Crack this deal, you have got all it takes babes.
SAM
I’m having the best time of my life now sir, I can’t come back please. Send Val his good too. Please sir.
BOSS
I wanted to send him but Val is hospitalize.
SAM
What? What happened to him?
BOSS
He had an accident two days after you left.
SAM
I feel sorry for him. But still I’m not coming back ooh.
BOSS
Sam, I want you back here in my office by Monday and that’s an order. (he hung up). I was so filled with rage, what nonsense if you are ‘stupid people complain’ and when you are smart and intelligent people use it to their advantage’ in this case now I regret why I’m not stupid. If I’m stupid they won’t even border giving me this deal to handle. I got up from the bed to the kitchen to get water, I turn on the kitchen light and I almost passed out of fear. Papa was in the kitchen too. Water in his hand.
SAM
Holy cow, you almost scare me to death daddy. Why didn’t you turn on the light?
PAPA
Nothing, I know the direction of the fridge so I felt there was no need to turn on the light.
SAM
And why ain’t you sleeping?
PAPA
You want the truth?
SAM
Who doesn’t like truth? I love truth so tell me (I smiled at him and he smiled back show me his side dimple)
PAPA
Couldn’t sleep. Just one night you slept in my arms and I’m addicted, (he moves closer) just stay with me tonight in my room please.
SAM
(I sign) what if I didn’t come out here?
