Chapter 3
My late husband, Samuel, was a very good husband and father. I was always grateful to be blessed with such a man. Unfortunately, we weren't financially stable. He tried all he could to make us feel comfortable. He was always ready to do any decent job to be able to feed us. What we thought was our breakthrough was actually the end of us.
Samuel got the chance to travel to USA. Initially, we were overjoyed. But after three months of his stay abroad, we got a call from a white woman that he had died in an accident. Our happiness was short-lived. A year after his death, I met Nelson at the bank. We became friends and before we knew it, we became fond of each other. I was also willing to give Alex another father since he was too young to lack the love of a father.
Nelson was the marketing director of a big company in the country. But then two years after our marriage he lost his job for being incompetent. I was ever ready to support financially but he wasn't making things easy. He wasn't ready to work because he wants to work as a marketing director and nothing else. He'd always get furious when I bring his job issue up. And now, he's mentioning the fact that Alex isn't his son. Does that mean he won't take care of him any longer? But he promised to love and care for him like his very own son. Now where was I going to find money for Alex's fees. I then decided to borrow from Gina. She's a very good friend of mine. If it weren't for her, I don't know what I'd do sometimes.
I went to her house and luckily, she was around. "Ei Cynthia, it's been a while oo. Where have you been?" She said while hugging me. "I've been kind of busy these days that's why I haven't been able to visit." I explained everything to her and the only thing that came out of her mouth after a minute of silence is " You need to divorce that good for nothing man"
