Emmanuel’s mind was sky rocketing, he didn’t know what to do, he looked he kept moving up and down and scratching his head like something was biting away his very brain. He looked up as Angela approached him, she was now heavily pregnant and walking had become a challenge, she smiled when she saw him and in his eyes she had never looked prettier. he had bought her some fruits as he was coming.
She hugged him eagerly and sat down next to him with him helping her. She looked at him and smiled again, he looked so handsome and well-kept even though his eyes looked troubled.
“are you okay love?’ as she asked him as she saw him panic and look agitated
“Me am fine” he answered
“Did something happen?” she asked him getting concerned
“No everything is fine, am just worried about you and the baby” he lied
“That’s a relief because there’s something I have been meaning to tell you” she told him suddenly becoming serious
“What?” he asked in even more panic, “is something wrong with you and the baby?”
“No it’s not that” she refuted
“Then what is wrong?” he insisted
“I ran into Monica the other day and she knows that am still pregnant with your child” Emmanuel’s brain went into over drive as he figured out that that is how Maya must have found out through Monica or Bobby. Those traitors, he thought bitterly to himself, “they haven’t caused trouble have they?” she added a follow up question
“No” he shook his head in response
“that’s a relief” she breathed in deeply and rested her head on his shoulder, “I just want some peace Emmanuel, I don’t know if I can handle another confrontation” she told him and he just put his hand around her as he sighed to himself, ‘if only I could tell you what is going to happen on Wednesday’ he thought sadly and started staring into the sky.

“Did you say bye to her?” Maya asked the minute Emmanuel entered the house and he just looked at her and passed without saying a word. “Hey am talking to you” she yelled, “we had an agreement I let you see her and you end things or would you rather I did it for you?” she asked her
“Listen Maya I agreed to marry you not because I want to but because I have to so please stay out of my way” he pushed her away from him
“I will not have a cheating husband Emma”
“I doubt we shall be anything more than housemates” he added
“Bobby was right, you really have lost your head over this girl” she said furiously
“Bobby, what does Bobby have to do with anything?” he asked and she realised that she had let everything slip, Emmanuel heard the door open and turned around only to find Bobby coming in chatting happily with Monica, he went up to him and without warning punched him hard in the face, he tried to retaliate but Emmanuel punched him again and kicked him in his stomach. The two body guards came to his rescue as they held back Emmanuel, “let go of me” he yelled
“Emmanuel what’s happening you are not a savage” asked Monica as she grasped from what happened
“You two are shameless, you have ruined my life and it seems that you are still doing it.” Eh said as he broke free from the guards hands, “now let me warn you if anything happens to Angela I will make sure that you pay with your lives” he warned all of them, it was at this point that Monica and Bobby realised that Emmanuel knew that he had told Maya about Angela’s baby being his.
“What’s happening down there?” Emma’s mother asked as she descended the stairs with his father
“Emma was beating up Bobby” Maya answered
“that’s not right, my little brother doesn’t have it in him to hurt anybody” Tinashe responded as she came in wearing a pink knee high short and a white blouse, she looked so young and youthful in that outfit, she took off her sunglasses as everyone settled their gaze on her
“Bobby tell me what happened” his aunt insisted as he struggled to find his voice
“Emmanuel wouldn’t have beaten him, he simply fell” Rose added as she came out of her hiding place
“Hello Family” Cathy announced her entrance
“What is this?” asked Emmas mother. “a family reunion?”
“No I called them here” Emma’s father spoke out, “now you four in my office now” they all followed their father as their mother kept inquiring from Bobby what had happened.
“I called you all here because there is something we need to discuss” the father said as he sat down
“your inability to stand up to mum” Rose pointed out, “it’s about time father” she said as she sat in one of the sofas next to Tinashe
“Tinashe you are my eldest daughter, the first gift God gave unto me” the father began talking ignoring what Rose had just said, “your calm nature and yoru ability to want to make everyone around you happy is a valuable asset that am very much proud of”
“aaaww thank you Dad that was so sweet” she said as she hugged her father
“Cathy my second born daughter, your quiet nature and your inability to stand up for yourself has always worried me, please get out of that shell and show me the lovely fearless little girl that I have always known and loved”
“dad what is going on?” Cathy asked in surprise
“Rose my hot headed tempered little girl who doesn’t allow anyone or anything to come into her way of getting what she wants, its this attribute that has made me to be calm and not worry because I know that you shall always strive to get what you want”
“What?” asked Rose in surprise
“Emmanuel, my son, you are the man of this house, I need you to take your position coz after am gone your sisters and your mother will both look to you for protection”
“Dad, are you dying?” asked Rose in disbelief, “why are you being so different it’s scary”
“My daughters, my son” he held out as his arms to them as he looked at their confused faces, “yes am dying”
“What?” they all said at once,
“I have been diagnosed with cancer, I have less than one year to leave, and there is nothing that the doctor can do”. The girls all had tears in their eyes as Emmanuel looked on in horror, the man he had admired all his life would soon be no more. “That’s why am asking you to please get along with your mother, do it as my last dying request to you”
“But dad mum is unbearable” Emmanuel disputed
“I know she can be unbearable at times but the person who loves you the most from me is your mother, she just has trouble showing it” he explained to them. Tinashe just got up from her seat and hugged her father, she was greatly moved, the others also joined into the hug. They spent the rest of the day with their father and they all enjoyed it.
“What is wrong bro?” Rose asked Emmanuel as he sat alone staring at the stars, it had been a wonderful day spent with their father but Emma looked troubled
“Dad is sick”
“Yes we all know that”
“What do I do now?” he asked Rose and looked at him as if trying to understand him and that’s when it came to mind exactly what he meant
“I can’t leave now sis, he needs me”
“And what about Angie and your child?”
“I don’t know sis, maybe you were right, the best thing that can happen is for me to just let her go”
“And your son?” she asked
“I don’t know, I really don’t know” Emmanuel said as he scratched his head and went up to his room..
