Sequence 21

Emmanuel sat in the swimming pool cooling himself in the water as he practised his Chinese language, he was so happy that soon he would free from all this. Angela was on his mind and it was such a relief to know that she and the baby were okay.
It would be Emmanuel’s birthday soon and if all goes well, he would be gone from all this drama, he would miss the birth of his son and Angela herself but he knew he had to do this for all their sakes. He put the headsets in his ears as he practiced the words some more.
Maya spotted him sitting in the pool and immediately went to join him, she was wearing a pink bikini with a sash around her hips, it nicely brought out her hour glass figure and she made sure she walked slowly as she approached Emmanuel.
Maya on the edge beside Emmanuel and when she noticed that he had not seen her, she cleared her throat loudly, when that wasn’t effective she nudged him on the shoulder, he turned and looked up to face her, his eyes bulged as he took in her figure. You couldn’t deny that she had a really nice structure, like that of a model, he coughed and stood up as he removed the head sets from his ears. Maya could see that she had some kind of effect on him and she smiled.
“Hey Maya” he greeted her, he was wearing a black speedo
“mind if I join you?” she said as she sat down and dropped the sash, she put her legs in the water and breathed in deeply as the cool water soaked her legs, Emmanuel looked away, he was starting to feel very uncomfortable with her around, “the water feels good” she said as she jumped inside happily and went to lean against the wall next to him.
Emmanuel stood there like a log watching her, what is happening to me? He asked himself as if trying to shake himself awake from this hypnosis. He turned to get out of the water but Maya quickly wrapped her arms around his waist from the back and he froze. “Don’t go, join me” Maya begged as she hugged him tighter and felt his firm body next to her.
“No thanks” he replied as he removed her fingers from his waist and started to walk out of the pool
“Am’ I that detestable that you won’t even give me the time of day?” she yelled as he walked away, he stopped briefly but didn’t turn back to look at her. “Emmanuel, I think I have a leg cramp” Maya said as she held her leg and started sinking down
“quit playing Maya” said Emmanuel with a smug but Maya yelled for help again, he turned around and his laughter ended when he saw Maya, quickly sinking and trying to stay afloat, he put his phone away and jumped into the water after her, he managed to reach her and pull her outside onto the pavement, she looked like she couldn’t breath so he had to perform mouth to mouth, she coughed out the water as she opened her eyes and saw Emmanuel kneeling over her panting.
“You saved me?” she asked him with a smile
“yeah I guess I did” he answered her, before he could know what was happening she had grabbed him around his neck and was kissing him like there was no tomorrow, “Maya” Emmanuel tried to pull away but she pulled him closer to her and kissed him some more, he finally managed to break free and stood up away from her, “I don’t know what you think you are doing but my saving you doesn’t mean that I love you, I just did what any other good Samaritan would have done” he yelled at her and turned to leave
“Emmanuel please don’t go” said Maya as she staggered to her feet and almost fell but he caught her just in time
“You shouldn’t walk” he told her as she leaned her weight against his body
“Why are you so mean to me? Is it my fault that I love you so much?” she asked him as he held her in his arms
“I should take you inside” Emmanuel lifted her and led her to the pool room so that she could change and put some ice on the leg. “Well see you” he told her as he retreated but she held him back
“Don’t you feel anything for me?” she asked him sadly, “anything at all?”
“I don’t hate you if that’s what you want to know but I don’t love you either” he told her as she stared at him with sad eyes
“But why? I know you can learn to love me aswel but why won’t you try?” she told him pleadingly
“Because I already love someone else” he answered
“Angela?” she asked
“yes” he answered and tears came out of her eyes, “don’t cry over me Maya, we are both still young and so am sure you shall meet someone even better than me” that made Maya cry even more so Emmanuel was forced to go and hug her.
“Emmanuel I can’t let you leave me and go to Angela” she said as she dried her tears and he immediately let go of her, “am better than her, just come to me” she begged
“You can’t force me to love you” he told her
“You are with Angela only because she is having your child and don’t you dare deny that” she warned him
“How did you?” he tried to ask her as he looked at her in surprise
“It doesn’t matter how I found out” she said as she folded her arms across her chest, “Imagine what aunt will do when she finds out that Angela’s bastard son is your son?” she asked him with glaring eyes
“You wouldn’t dare tell her and don’t you call my son a bastard because he has a father” he warned her
“Well I will you can count on that, unless...” she ended midway
“Unless what?” Emmanuel asked in anger
“Unless you marry me as planned” she finished her sentence and he couldn’t believe what he was hearing she was trying to bribe him into marrying her.
His mind began to wonder, his mother would turn Angela’s life into a living hell if she found out that that child was Emmanuel’s, she would probably force her to give up the child and she would take him only God knows where. She wouldn’t let anything ruin her reputation.
“Think about my offer, the time is running, you only have seven days before your birthday and Angela is almost due” she pointed out as she grabbed a robe and stood up
“You can’t expect me to give up my son” he tried to reason with her
“Yes I can because we shall have other children together” she argued
“Don’t do this” he begged her
“Should I call aunt now?” she threatened him as she fumbled trying to look for the phone..
