The hanging vine3

The Hanging Vine (episode 3) Everyone and thing on the surface of this earth is subject to change so therefore, giving a second chance to someone you once wrote off doesn’t potray weakness but rather strength and empathy. Who would have thought that the almighty ‘Oscar’ I didn’t want to ever have anything to do with would make me smile, talk more of laugh?. The fact that he had a good sense of humor was an attribute that made me lower my guards down even though I vowed never to have anything to do with him. That evening was such an eye opener to me as to how much of a gentleman he was but nevertheless, I wasn’t going to let that one tiny gesture from an alleged chronic womanizer and playboy get to me. No way! After the little show Oscar displayed that faithful evening in front of my school, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Can you just go back to your car and let me find a taxi in peace? Just so you know, you are obstructing my view with your car and also distracting me by standing...

The hanging vine 2

*The Hanging Vine* (episode 2) Have you ever judged or written someone off before you even got the chance to know them personally and their core character? If yes, then it's apparent that I'm not alone for what I did to Oscar that fateful day after the comedy show held at my school. However, before you accuse me of being sentimental and judgmental, first be aware that he actually did portray and show many signs that effortlessly concurred to the fact that he was indeed a proud spoilt brat. Regardless, that didn't give me the right to totally write him off as though nothing good was ever going to come out of any sort of friendship or relationship with him due to his personality. At least the fact that he secretly paid the Uber driver that was to take me home that night without notifying me nor make a big announcement afterwards, kinda made me began to rethink my judgements about his character. Phew! There was just too many thoughts in my head at that moment that all I wanted...

The hanging vibe 1

*The Hanging Vine*  (episode 1) It seems just like yesterday when I first met the man that entirely changed my whole world and got me falling deeply in love like never before. Just for a split moment, I felt love in a way I only imagined in my dreams. How could love be so pure, genuine, willing and sacrificial?. He was my everything even though our love story was sadly cut short before we could take the official leap to forever. He was an angel in human form; an angel created just for me. It's no doubt that God had me in mind when he put together every tiny details and traits that summed up this awesome human. He was my knight in shinning armor, his name was 'Oscar'.  At the school theater is where it all began several years ago. I can vividly remember telling my best friend that I wasn't going to grace the comedy show that was scheduled to take place in school that evening even after she got two tickets earlier for us to go see the show. Back in school, I was a chronic...

Heartbreak Finale

Heartbreak Final chapter. Our love grew day by day. Catherine was everything I wanted in a woman. She did everything possible to make me forget my wife Nancy. She was a good woman. The day Nancy called my wife called me, I ended the call because of how furious I was. I refused to pick the call because of what Frank told me about her. She called for more than one week till she stopped calling. I guess she became fed up with my attitude. I was on my bed one day when a text message popped up…. “Emmy, why have you refused to pick my calls? What did I do wrong? Have you gotten another woman over there?” It was from my wife. I read the message over and over again before I deleted it. I didn’t want Catherine to see the message and get angry with me. My heart was beating for Catherine. After that message, my wife stopped calling. I called Frank and told him how I’ve found another lady over there and he was so happy for me. “Emeka, I am so happy for you. Thank God you’re saved from that your wi...

Heartbreak 4

Heartbreak Episode  4. I was tensed and my heart was palpitating. I kept dialing her number but it wasn’t going through. I kept trying to reach her but all to no avail. I was almost about giving up when it rang, “Hello, hello. Nancy, where are you now” “Why are you sounding like this. I am….” “You’re where?….Nancy, Nancy, say something.” She ended the call. I tried calling her again but this time around, her number was switched off. I almost developed high blood pressure that day. I decided to step out at least to clear my head. I went to a beer parlor close to where I was staying. I grabbed two bottles of alcoholic drinks as I settled down on the seat there. I couldn’t stop thinking about what Frank my Friend told me about my wife, Nancy. As I was gulping down the drink, I noticed that this slim lady wouldn’t stop staring at me. At first, I thought it was nothing as I kept drinking my beer. Immediately I tried to open the second bottle of drink, I noticed someone standing in front...

Heartbreak 3

Heartbreak  Episode 3. It was a mixed feeling for my wife and I .We slept together and discussed throughout the night. We couldn't let go of each other. "Honey, don't worry. I will be back for you. Don't think too much because I will always be calling you", I assured her. Before we could catch some sleep, it was morning already. I quickly took my bath, ate the food she prepared for me before I hurriedly left for the airport. When I got there, I made sure I always called my wife, Nancy. I created out time to always chat and call her at every slight opportunity I got in my office. I didn't want anything that will make her cheat. Nancy was a good woman and so I had no reason to doubt her faithfulness. We maintained close contact. We would be on call for hours. She would tell me everything about her day while I also made sure she knows everything that was happening. Every thing was going smoothly till the day frank called me... "My man, how far na?" ...

Heartbreak 2

™️ Heartbreak 2. Our love was a match made in heaven. People spoke about us while some envied us because our love was pure. I got married to Nancy and it was the best day of my life. We went home and had the best honeymoon we'd ever imagined. Two weeks after our honeymoon, my boss in the company called me into his office and said, "Emeka, the company have decided to send you to another country for training. We need improvements in certain areas in our company", he said. " But Sir, I just got marrieeeeeed" " I know you just got married and that's why we've decided to let you spend just 6 months for the program before you come back", he retorted. " Ok Sir. Thank you sir", I replied as I left his office downcasted.  I knew that there was no way I could avoid making that travel. I thought about my young marriage and how my wife would feel if I break the news to her. When I got home, she was waiting for me. She opened the door and gave me ...

Heartbreak 1

™️ Episode 1 Heartbreak. I've never cheated on Nancy my wife since we got married. I tried as much as possible to refrain from ladies. No matter how they tried to get close to me, I tried everything possible never to have anything to do with them. I loved Nancy. I loved her dearly because she had been there for me through thick and thin. Nancy was a very beautiful woman. She was extremely beautiful that sometimes, I wonder why God was impartial. "Why would God mould her differently?", I thought. She had the right ingredients in the right places with her smile which could melt even a heart made of stone. Her hour glass shape made it difficult for me to walk with her on the streets. Men would always try to get her attention even when she was with me. When I met her during my friend's wedding reception, I couldn't let her go. I asked for her number although she hesitated before finally giving it to me. I took it up from there. I told her my intentions for her and she...

Twisted identity 8

Twisted Identity episode 8 TWISTED IDENTITY      Episode 8 final Twisted Identity The people standing before me, at the door were Madam Bridget, Mrs Bassey, her children (including Edet) and of course, her bully of a husband. I wondered if they were returning the child then, because deep down in me, I wanted my son from the very day the martenity test was taken… just that I got to control my emotion as a man. Good evening, Mr Okafor. Madam Bridget said, interrupting my thought. …May we come in?”. She requested. “Please, do. I replied, making room for them to. …Junior, go and call your mum”. I said to my son and he ran out excitedly. When Mercy came out, she couldn’t control her emotions once again. She knelt beside him and pulled him closer to herself(but not forcefully this time). Then, she stroked his hair lovingly. “How are you, my boy?”. She asked. “I’m fine”. He replied, and we both smiled. “Look at those dimples”. She observed. “We’re here to do the needful”. Madam ...

Twisted identity 7

TWISTED IDENTITY      Episode 7 Twisted Identity Very early, the next morning, I received a call from madam Bridget, pleading with us to come over to her house. “Why don’t we go with the police right away?”. Mercy suggested. “No, let’s go there and listen to whatever she has to say first”. I pleaded. We drove to the house later in the day… I had to report to the office. “Idara finally responded to my calls yesterday night. I pleaded with her to release the child to the parents, but she won’t stop crying over the phone. Please, I beg you, this is a delicate matter, let’s handle it without involving a third party”. She further pleaded. “This is nonsense. I hope this is not all you brought us here to listen to?”. Mercy quarrelled. “What do you want us to do now?”. I asked. “Though, she didn’t tell me where she has gone to, but I suspect one place. I will lead you there but first of all, I want you to promise me you’re going to take things easy with her. Don’t fight her or fo...

Twisted identity 6

TWISTED IDENTITY      Episode 6 Twisted Identity “Just as I was driving in, the tricycle she boarded was driving out. I have been calling her since then, but she isn’t picking up.”. The old woman was explaining. “Fidelis, please don’t let her go with the child, he is my son”. Mercy was crying, louder now. My sister helped her back on her feet. “Why will she run with the child now?. Is she not supposed to be happy that she has been proven innocent of all the accusations?”. I asked. “You don’t expect her to easily give out a child she has bonded with for years?. If she did, then, she never loved him”. “So what are you saying now?. We should allow her continue having our baby because of her motherly bond with him while the real mother is helpless here?”. “That is not what I mean. You just have to give us time, I will talk with her, she is my niece, she will come around, I promise you. It would have been easier if the baby girl didn’t die. But I promise you, she will come aro...

Twisted identity 5

TWISTED IDENTITY      Episode 5 “My baby girl is no more”. Mercy sobbed. “Yes, she died 3 days after delivery”. I added. The old woman shook her head. “Your baby did not die”. She said. Mercy stopped crying and looked up to face her. “What?”. We both chorused. “Yes, the baby didn’t die”. The woman repeated, calmly. There was commotion in the room, as Mrs Bassey started murmuring with her sisters. I was still trying to understand what that woman was saying, because she wasn’t making any sense to me, then. “Mummy, please, we need a clarification, we’re confused here. Our daughter had complications which made us stayed back in the hospital after delivery. She died the very day we took her home and we buried her ourselves”. I explained. ‘Yes”. My wife agreed. The old woman hummed and shook her head. ” Everyone, listen, please”. The atmosphere was quiet once again. “This kind of a thing has never happened in the history of St Theresa’s. I….” “Yes!, yes!, now l know who you’re....

Twisted identity 4

TWISTED IDENTITY      Episode 4 Twisted Identity The doctor called security on us, and we were driven out of the hospital. Once we were outside, the elderly woman begged for attention but Mr Bassey refused to give a listening ear. He turned and pointed a finger at me. “Don’t think I’m done with you, because I’m definitely coming back. He walked to his car, opened it got in. Then he looked out through the window ….you can take this woman with you too, I think I’m done with her, anyways”. He was referring to his wife. With that, he drove off, leaving his wife and the women, stranded. Mercy already left before him. First of all, I drove to the clinic to have my head bandaged and also purchase pain relief. Then I drove down to the office. There, I lied that I was involved in an accident and was given 3 days leave. I was driving home but later diverted to another direction….I’d better face my sister than face Mercy right then. What I needed was a little rest to calm my aching ...

Twisted identity 3

TWISTED IDENTITY      Episode 3 Twisted Identity We waited long time in the reception. Mrs Bassey was sobbing while the older women comfort her. She leaves for the restroom every now and then. Through the corner of my eye, I noticed Mercy was watching my eye movement. She probably was trying to know if I was exchanging eye contact with Mrs Bassey.. she needed more evidence to back up her claims. She will be shocked today. I thought to myself and smiled. After a long wait, a nurse came out to announce we were being summoned to the doctor’s office. We all followed as she led the way to the office. “You’re welcome, all”. The doctor announced, as soon as we took our seats. He stretched out his hand to me, with a paper, but before I could get a hold of it, Mr Bassey snatched it from the him and unsealed it. I watched as he glances through it, shook his head and hummed. “What?”. I bent over to take look. My wife stretched her hand and snatched it from him. She looked at it and ...

Twisted identity 2

Episode 2 Twisted Identity When Mr Bassey disappeared into the school, I stood there for more than fifteen minutes, wondering what that could mean. What manner of man is this?. I hissed before getting into my car and driving away. I promised not to let that bother me and drove to the office. But I couldn’t concentrate at work. Mr Bassey’s last word kept ringing in my head. And that man sounded like a rogue. I thought Mercy was in the living room when I got back from work that evening. She was speaking with someone over the phone when I came in. “What’s the meaning of that rubb!sh you did at junior’s school yesterday?. I asked as soon as I got in. She ended the call and faced me. “What rubb!sh?”. She asked. “Why will you go to your son’s school and be fighting?, embarrassing your fellow woman anyhow. What is wrong with you!?”. I shouted. She laughed and clapped her hands. “So she reported to you?… wait, your side.. woman, reported me to you and you came back here to beat me?… God!, fide...
